Much of the story of our Robinson family is bound up in the 1820 migration to South Africa. The pen portraits below start with Robert Robinson, the Stamouer or progenitor of the Robinson clan in the Cape. Robert was born in Kent, the son of Philip and Charlotte (née Erith) who were married in Gillingham in 1774. Philip was born in about 1747, probably also in Kent, but I can find no record of his birth. Yet.
